Description

Muscle relaxant Muscoril (Thiocolchicoside) is a muscle relaxant with anti-inflammatory and analgesic actions and is used typically for the treatment of muscular spasms and for rheumatologic, orthopedic and traumatologic disorders.

Thiocolchicoside (TCC) is used clinically for its muscle relaxant, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic properties. Muscoril muscle relaxant works by acting on the central nervous system but it does not heal a muscle, because muscles are self-healing, but mask the pain to allow the body time to heal itself. Thiocolchicoside also works on the brain. This medication works to reduce your brain’s ability to sense pain, allowing you to relax. It also blocks the pain sensations that your body’s nerves send to your brain.

In most cases, Muscoril medicine is used in addition to therapy or exercise, or both. It is important to bear in mind that muscles will take a while to come back to their relaxed position, so just because a drug helps stop the pain, do not get back into normal activity levels. This may just relapse the process of relaxing the muscle. Muscoril caps is recommended for a muscular spasm or cramp only if the underlying reason is an injury.

Muscle relaxer thiocolchicoside is usually prescribed along with rest, exercise, physical therapy, or other treatments. Although the drugs may provide relief, it should never be considered a substitute for these other forms of treatment. The Muscoril drug may make the injury feel so much better that one is tempted to go back to normal activity, but doing too much too soon can actually make the injury worse.

Side effects:
Side effects from Mucsoril can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: dizziness, upset stomach, vomiting, tingling sensation in the arms, legs, hands, and feet, dry mouth, increased muscle spasms.

Thiocolchicoside may not be very useful for cramps due to other more physiological reasons. When this is the case, one may feel lightheaded, dizzy or drowsy, and even suffer from blurred vision. That is why driving or doing jobs that require precision operations like machinery operating, should be avoided after taking a muscle relaxant drug.

Dosage:
Recommended Muscoril dosage is 8 mg the first day, then to increase up to 12 – 16 mg per day. Do not exceed eight milligrams per dose. Muscoril capsule should be taken on a full stomach. Unless prescribed otherwise by the physician, it should be given 2 capsules for severe muscle cramps.
